About Naomi Stewart
Naomi Stewart is the Founder of Black in Place LLC, a Curator, and Lead Consultant whose work exists at the intersection of artistic vision and strategic sustainability. With a B.A. in Anthropology and Art History from Hawaii Pacific University and an MBA in Leadership from Pepperdine University, she uniquely bridges creative practice with business acumen.
Her professional foundation includes extensive non-profit finance management experience, overseeing budgets exceeding $1M across both single-site and multi-site organizations. She brings expertise in grant management, financial reporting, audit coordination, and strategic planning—skills that now inform her approach to supporting creative professionals in building sustainable practices.
As a curator, Naomi centers identity, collective healing, and somatic ecology through exhibitions like Black in Place and collaborations with galleries including Sovern LA, Wonzimer, Brea Gallery, and Angel’s Gate Cultural Center. Through partnerships with Sci-Art collective, SuperCollider Art, and Inbreak Residency, she explores themes of trauma, erasure, and resilience within the modern Black experience. Her curatorial insights have been shared through publications including the Black in Place and Borderline exhibition catalogs, as well as speaking engagements like CultureHub Re–Fest.
This commitment to elevating marginalized voices extends into her consulting work with Black in Place, where she helps creative professionals translate artistic vision into viable business strategies. She continues her own creative practice through writing featured on The Wanderess Substack.
TESTIMONIALS

Practicing Artist for 10+ years, Entrepreneur
“[Naomi’s] professionalism, tools, and interactive activities really made time fly productively. Walking away from a meeting with clear, actionable steps makes a huge difference, and the way our Divergent/Convergent exercise allowed me to see my goals transition from “ideas” to a clear blueprint. The entire experience — start to finish — made me feel seen, respected, and uplifted in a way that I hadn’t experienced on calls in the past. I felt like she had a true understanding of the art industry as well as the pitfalls I may encounter as a black woman, which only added to my comfort.”
